Getting a new home means a lot of work. It also means a lot of shopping, research and arming yourself with good knowledge so that you know what you’re looking at when you’re visiting different homes for sale. Consider a couple basic tips to make sure you get the home of your dreams.
Look at Everything
This means crawling around in the basement even if it’s a crawlspace and getting up in the attic. Bring your flashlight with you and search it all out so that you are sure you won’t need water removal. If a home you are looking at has water in it you want to take care of it as quickly as you can. This way you’ll have the least damage. In addition, you can use it as a bargaining tool.
Take a Flashlight
You will actually need to check the basement and the attic with your flashlight. This will be the first and best way for you to check the home thoroughly. Look into the basement corners to make sure you won’t need mold removal. Check under sinks and around toilet basins as well. You’ll want to look in the attic to insure you don’t have any need for water damage restoration either.
Call the Inspector
If you’ve spent a good deal of time and energy combing the house over and you’re still interested then you need to take the next step and call an inspector. You want to make sure the home is in as good of condition as possible.
