According to a recent study by the National Association of Home Builders, basements are considered especially desirable in homes by younger home buyers and by those living in colder climates.
It appears that younger buyers are looking for added living space and storage areas, whereas older buyers are looking to scale back on living space.
The study also found that the geographic areas where respondents prefer a full or partial basement were mostly in the areas of New England, East North Central and the Middle Atlantic states. More than 80 percent of respondents in these colder climate areas prefer to have a basement.
For those owners considering putting their home on the market, it is an added incentive to get their basement in shape to be shown to buyers.
If you have signs of water damage, water leaks, moldy odors or water staining, Super Restoration can do a mold assessment and do mold clean up if it is necessary.
Water leaks or spills are very common in basements. It is important to do an inspection of floor coverings and crawl spaces,
The prompt removal of all standing water is critical to reduce or eliminate structural damage and/or mold.
A basement that looks (and smells) clean can be a big asset in selling your home.
